Call for Participation – DiaMiGo Activities for Master’s Students at the American University in Cairo
If you are a Master’s student at the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies or the Department of Sociology, Egyptology, and Anthropology at the American University in Cairo with an interest in migration in the Mediterranean Region, this fully funded opportunity is for you. The DiaMiGo Summer Research Academy in Germany offers a chance to exchange ideas with students from the University of Cologne and engage with distinguished scholars. Participants are highly encouraged to then also take part in further activities, including a potential research academy in Cairo in early 2026.

DiaMiGo Activities and Requirements of Participation
The DiaMiGo program will take place during the Summer Semester 2025 and Winter Semester 2025/26.
Activities during the Summer Semester 2025:
- DiaMiGo Summer Research Academy at the University of Cologne (31 May - 04 June 2025)
- Collaborative creative outputs (e.g., blog posts) to be developed preferably in tandem with students from the University of Cologne
Activities during the Winter Semester 2025/26:
- DiaMiGo Spring Research Academy in Cairo (dates tbc)
- Please note: It is highly desired that students from Cairo who join the Cologne program also attend the winter workshop in Cairo afterward.
Who is eligible to participate?
- Master’s students at the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies or the Department of Sociology, Egyptology, and Anthropology at the American University in Cairo
- Strong interest in and familiarity with migration topics
- Very good English language skills
